I have many memories of my grandparents' house on Kooteney lake. One of my most memorable was the time my Grandma took my little brother and I to the Pilot Bay Lighthouse. We walked from their yard up an embankment that led into the forest. The ground was covered in green moss, in which my grandma said; "Wow guys! Look at this green carpet!" We continued through the forest while we sang and ran through the trees. This area was unlike anything I had ever seen, I felt as though my grandma had taken us to a magical forest...With green carpet! We approached the lighthouse and climbed the stairs; I will never forget the view of Kooteney lake from way up there. We watched the ferry go past a couple of times, then we went back down. A couple of years ago my family took a trip deep into British Columbia in which we took our truck and trailer on the Kooteney lake ferry. As we were going across the lake I saw the Pilot Bay Lighthouse, I remembered the time when my Grandma took my brother and I into the "magical forest." Everytime I go across that lake and see the Pilot Bay Lighthouse, I will think of my grandma.
