I have so many memories of my mom but some of my personal favorites are her funny songs that she used to make up for her pets. Those that knew my mom knew that she loved her pets almost as much as us kids. She would sing her "songs" to her pets and you couldn't help but smile. Even in those last few days, we were sitting by her side and one of us would break out in the "Andy Song" which she sang to her cat that Merv had originally found as a kitten at North Star many years ago. She would sing "Andy..." and Andy would "Meow". Mom would say "Little Dandy...." Andy would respond "Meow". Mom would sing "What a wonderful little boyyyyyy" to which Andy would respond "Meow". Now you might think I am making this up but you could only believe it if you heard it for yourself. Then there was the "Abba Dabba Dabba Dabba said the Monkey to the Chimp" which she sang to Abbey, her beloved corgi. She passed that "special talent" on to me as I had a song for my pug Roxi too. Any of our friends that came by the full house when we were growing up would also remember the songs with fond memories. It was just one of the special ways she would touch your day with a smile.
