Obituary for Clifford Ross Calvert

CLIFFORD ROSS CALVERT
1923 - 2018

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Clifford Ross Calvert announce his sudden passing on December
15, 2017 at the age of 94 years. Cliff was born on July 4, 1923 to Myrtle (Thurston) & John Calvert.
He was a farmer through and through beginning at home in the Kneehill district, near Calder School. Over
the years, he worked for various farmers before renting a place of his own in the Kneehill Valley.
In 1964, Cliff married Mary Westwood and gained an extended family of 6. They boughta farm in
Lacombe and lived there until 1971 when they moved to Innisfail. Once retired, he and Mary
enjoyed travelling to England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii to name a few. Cliff took
great pride in his yard and garden and always strivedto be the first to have potatoes up. He also took great
pleasure spending time at the Drop In Centre playing games, socializing, jam sessions and dancing. He
loved to dance. Cliff will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by Bonnie, Max&Alisha Johann;
step-children and their families Ralph (Shirley) Westwood; Eva Riddle; Marv (Dianne) Westwood;
Sheila Westwood; Barry (Barb) Westwood; sister Mary Thompson; sister-in-law Ilene Calvert as
well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary; sisters Marion and
Violet; brothers Johnny, George, Alex and Roy; step-son Gordon; as well as special friend Connie
Ferguson. In keeping with Cliff’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. A Celebration Tea will be
held in the New Year. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Heart
& Stroke Foundation or the charity of choice.
