Delores Marie Merz
March 21, 1921-July 27, 2017
At the age of 96, Delores passed away peacefully at the Innisfail Health Centre. She was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, to James and Myrtle Bainbridge. She moved numerous times in her childhood, and met her first husband, Thomas Brown, in Red Deer while both were attending Lindsey Thurber High School. They were married in Calgary on her 20th birthday and lived on the family farm east of Red Deer. There they welcomed daughter Sherran in 1942, sons Leonard in 1944, and Thomas Jr. in 1946. Her husband Tom and son Leonard perished in a farming accident in 1953, while Delores was expecting another son, Dorian. Del met her second husband, Bob Merz, in Red Deer, and they were married in
August of 1954 and welcomed daughter Laurie in 1955. In the early 60's the family moved to Innisfail for Bobs carpentry career. Delores ran the Eatons mail-order business and then operated Del's Stitch 'n' Sew until she retired. She was predeceased by daughter Sherran Carter in 1982, husband Bob in 2007, and daughter Laurie Seifried in 2014. She is survived by sons Tom (Dianne) Brown and Dorian (Juanita) Brown, and son-in-laws Leo (Faye) Carter and Clinton Seifried and all their families.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Branch, #104, Innisfail on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
