ERNEST IRION
MAY 3, 1933 â€" APRIL 11, 2009
Ernest Irion passed away peacefully at the Drumheller Continuing Care Centre on Saturday, April 11, 2009; after a lengthy illness in his 75th year. Ernie was born on May 3, 1933 on the family farm in Endiang, Alberta. He was the second child of Arthur and Olga Irion. The Irion family operated a mixed farming operation south and east of Endiang. Ernie married Marjorie Gail Croker of Hanna Alberta in 1956. He was the loving Dad of 5 children: Darryl (Jessie), Rodney (Esther), Marilyn (Fred), Kevin, and Allan. Ernie was known as Grandpa by 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Ernie was predeceased by his sister Emma in 2003, his mother Olga in 1992 and his father Arthur in 1977. He will be lovingly remembered by many family members and friends. Ernie was a devote Christian and a lifetime supporter of his Church, past member of the Board of Directors, a long-time member of the Endiang Board of Trade. Ernie will be most remembered for his love of life, family and appreciation for friendship. Funeral services were held on April 17, 2009 at the Endiang Community Hall at 2:00PM with Reverend Laurie Burridge officiating. Interment followed at the Endiang Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it would be most appreciated if donations could be made in Ernie’s name to the Alberta Lung Association or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
