Obituary for Ruth Lillian Mackenzie

Ruth Lillian Mackenzie
Ruth Lillian Mackenzie, the second of three daughters, entered the Roy and Viola Murphy family on August 14,1921 in Hamilton, Ontario.
Her heart had been tender toward the Lord from a young child so when, at the invitation of a girlfriend's family, she attended Children's Meetings, she responded, in faith, to the invitation to come to Christ as her Saviour. She was 12 at the time.

About a year later, the well known, then aged and blind missionary, Jonathan Goforth spoke at her Sunday School. From then on she knew she would one day be a missionary.

The summer of 1944 found Mother working under the Canadian Sunday School Mission in New Brunswick. She was introduced to New Brunswick Bible Institute at that time and knew this was where she should attend in preparation for missionary service.

Her husband to be, Malcolm MacKenzie, was one of the eight students in their small class. God led them together over the next three years of schooling and they graduated in 1948.

After marrying in South Africa, December 15,1950, they embarked on 37 years of fulfilling and varied ministry in that country.

God blessed them with five children, Lillian, Beth, Esther, Timothy and Daniel, ten grand children and five great grand children.

Retirement years began in 1987 and were happily spent in Three Hills. Mother's final days were lived at Westview Care Community where she thrived on the excellent care offered by the staff there.

Her choice of hymns are her testimony to God's faithfulness to her, 'Jesus Led Me All the Way', and her desire to see those not yet His, 'Great is Thy Faithfulness'.

She is dearly missed.
