Obituary for Laura Caroline Cudmore

Today we lost our Mother and Grandmother Laura Caroline Cudmore died in the Sundre Hospital, on October 15, 2019, in Sundre, Alberta at the age of 79.
Laura is survived by her daughter Barbara McCutcheon (Brian); son, Peter Krolikowski (Kim) and son Harold Horn (Brandy). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Melissa and Christina Vanderkuil; Colby, Ashley and Brayden Krolikowski; and Andrew, Makayla and Rhett Horn. Laura is also survived by her husband, Al Grimshaw.
Laura is preceded in death by her Mother, Ethel Ward of Sundre, Alberta and her Father Robert Cudmore of Surrey, BC. Also preceding Laura was her beloved cat Odie and dog Hanna. Those two were her dearest and most faithful companions in life.
Laura was born on April 5, 1940 in Trochu, Alberta. She grew up in High River and eventually moved to the big city, Calgary. However, small town Alberta always drew her back and she lived in many small town locations. Her fondest memories as a child were of living with her Grandparents, Heather and Glen Emery, in High River.
Laura loved working as a bookkeeper and did so up to the last few weeks of her life. She was passionate about politics, so much so that she became mayor for the Village of Caroline, from October 2006 to October 2013. She would debate anything and everything with you if you let her. We are positive that she is fuming somewhere over the fact that she missed her opportunity to vote in this upcoming federal election.
She fought a war with cancer for the past few years. In the end Laura chose to let Mother Nature take its course and out lived all medical predictions. But in the end, it reared its ugly head and she succumbed to the illness. She is loved and will be missed by many. She will be dancing and travelling to all the places on her bucket list.
No funeral service or memorial will be had, as those were her wishes. She wished for cremation and to be taken home with the children and placed on the mantle alongside Odie and Hanna. In memory of her life, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sundre Palliative Care Association, PO Box 1259, Sundre, Alberta, T0M 1X0.
The family would like to acknowledge and send our sincerest thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Moose and Squirrel Medical Clinic and the Sundre Hospital for their knowledge, efforts, care, dedication and kindness to our Mother.
