Obituary for Norman Collins Foster

It is with great regret and sadness that the Foster family must announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather Norman Collins Foster on June 10, 2019 at Innisfail, Alberta. Norm passed away peacefully at the Rosefield Centre in Innisfail after having visited one last time with loved ones.Norm enjoyed sports, particularly hockey where he played for the Okotoks Oilers in the 1950’s, and later coaching them for a brief time in the early 1970’s. Norm was an active member of the Okotoks community where he was a town councilman as well as a member of the Okotoks Recreation Board. Norm worked for Calgary Power (Trans Alta) from 1950 to 1982, first in Claresholm, then moving to Okotoks in 1954. Norm and his wife Pat lived in Okotoks until 1982 then retired to Chemainus, BC. They then moved to Ashcroft, BC and stayed there for the better part of 19 years, then moved to Olds, AB in May of 2012. Norm leaves behind his sons Mike (Marsha) and Gord, his daughter Cheryl (Jack), 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Norm was predeceased by his wife Pat in 2012 after 63 years of marriage, his sons Bob in 2001 and Dave in 2002. At Norm's request, no formal service will be held. A celebration of life will be held in Okotoks at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
