Obituary for Harry Roy "Honey" McKain

HARRY ROY McKAIN
1920 – 2019

Mr. Harry (Honey) McKain passed away April 19, 2019 peacefully at the Michener Extendicare in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 99 years.
Harry was born March 2, 1920 at home at Moose Mountain to Lena and Harry McKain Sr.
He was raised in the Kevisville area where he resided until his wife Joyce’s health failed and they moved her to Rosefield Centre in Innisfail, Harry then moved to Autumn Glen Lodge to be close to Joyce, where he lived for approximately 15 years.

Due to Harry’s failing health he moved to the Michener Extendicare in Red Deer in August of 2019.

Harry was a very hard working man and he married Joyce Shannon on June 23, 1945 where they farmed in the Kevisville area, and raised their four children.

Harry will be sadly missed by Gerry (Laurie) McKain , Brian (Deanna) McKain, special son in law Stan Simpson, grandchildren Dwayne (Patty) Simpson, Rhonda (Jeff) Turnquist, Joanne (Craig) Pullan, Braydon McKain, Dylan McKain, Brock Shack and Tegan Shack and his great grandchildren Riley, Bailey, Shae-Lynn, Cassidy, and Ryan, Dawson and Connor. Harry is survived by his sister Ruby Scharf and his sister in-law Martha McKain. Harry was predeceased by his wife Joyce, son Bobby and daughter Marilyn.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Autumn Glen Lodge that made his 15 years a place to call home. We also wish to extend a special thank you to the staff at Michener Extendicare and a special thank you to Ida and Sandi for the special care they gave to Harry in his last weeks of his life.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Kevisville Church on April 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
