Obituary for Reuben Wirch

Reuben Wirch was born on October 16, 1936 in Rimbey, Alberta. Mom and Dad Wirch had a farm near there at Bluffton. They later moved to Wetaskiwin where Reuben went to school. After high school he went to Alberta Bible Institute in Camrose for one year. He met his first wife Sharon Brown at an International Youth Convention in Edmonton in August of 1962. They were married in St. Louis, Illinois on March 22, 1963. They came to Canada and lived in the bunkhouse on Mom and Dad's farm at Carstairs. They later moved to Edmonton where Reuben worked as a welder and where Tony "Warren" was born in 1964. In 1966, they moved to Illinois and Reuben went to a chiropractic school in Missouri for a time. Lavon Marie Katherine was born in Illinois in 1969. They returned to Canada in 1971 and lived on the Spady chicken farm east of Carstairs. Kimberley Sue was then born in Olds in 1971. They then moved to Calgary where Reuben continued his work as a welder. It was during this time that their marriage dissolved and they were divorced after 17 years of marriage. Reuben met and married Violet May Johnson on July 26, 1980 in Calgary and she came to live with him on his farm near Carstairs. Reuben enjoyed 35 happy years with the love of his life before Vi passed away in the Didsbury Hospital in August 2015. Reuben is predeceased by his parents Otto and Mary Wirch; son Warren; siblings Annie Rose, Annie, Esther, Daniel Oscar, Helen Karen and Violet. He is survived by his daughters Lavon and Kimberley; sisters Linda (Ken), Lillian (Ed); brother Ben (Mary); five grandchildren Bruce (Warren's son), Alison, Sarah, and Bradley (Lavon's children) and Georgeanna (Kimberley's daughter). We mourn the loss of our dad, brother and grandfather who loved life and loved to talk and tell stories about his life. He loved his Lord and would laugh joyously when he expressed that love to others.
