Lovingly Remembered
MARVIN ELLWOOD THOMPSON
1937 – 2018
Mr. Ellwood Thompson passed away peacefully at the Innisfail Health Care Centre on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 after a brief but courageous battle with Brain Cancer. Ellwood was born and raised in the Heckla District where he farmed his entire life except for one year spent in Calgary after he married Helen. Agriculture was his calling in life and it was never a job for him, but it was what he loved to do. His determination and drive were unsurpassed, not only on the farm but in everything he did. That was just “Ellwood”. His motto was if you’re going to do something then do it right.
Winter could never come soon enough because that meant skiing season had arrived. Not only did he love the sport but it allowed him to cross paths with so many people from different walks of life. He treasured all the friendships that were made. He was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was always available to serve in any way he could. He would often say how fortunate and blessed he was to live in such a wonderful and caring community.
He leaves to mourn three sons: Randy (Joanne), Kelly (Elaine), Darcy (Judy); five grandchildren: Jessica (Cody), Tiffany, Lindsay (Ashly), Liesel (Brett) and Veronica and five great grandchildren: Levi, Avrielle, Elin, Huxley and Ellis. He also leaves behind three sisters: Janice (Lloyd), Laurie, Leanne (Rick) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Helen, son Daren, parents Marvin and Irma, in laws Evelyn and Anna, brother in law Larry, sisters in law Eunice and Louise.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the King of Kings Lutheran Church, Dickson, Alberta on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made in Ellwood’s memory to the King of Kings Lutheran Church or the ALS Society of Alberta.
