Obituary for Lillian Angela Grover

GROVER
Lillian Angela Grover (nee Nixon) was born on December 6, 1943 in Stettler, Alberta. She was the oldest of four children to James and Evelyn Nixon. She enjoyed her days on the farm near Byemoor, until she left for Calgary to further her education. She met the love of her life Lloyd Grover and married in December of 1969. They lived in Olds where their son Jim was born. Ten and a half months later their daughter Connie was born. Raising Jim and Connie was Lil’s greatest accomplishments. She found time to volunteer with the most time being spent at the Olds Legion. She also spent her days running kids to hockey, figure skating, swim club, and her lifelong commitment to St. John’s Anglican Church. A highlight of Lil’s summer was the Olds Fair that she and Lloyd both loved. Lil’s days were spent with lots of curling whether it was on tv or as a participant. Many trips were made with Merle and Shirley as well as family reunions. Lil’s world changed when Connie and Kelly were married and soon after the first grandchild was born on Lloyd’s birthday. After that it was all about the grandkids. Aeden and Emily were the light of her life for many years until Jim FINALLY married Nikki. It wasn’t long until there were three more grandkids Stone, Cooper, and Summer. Lil spent countless hours with the grandkids. She was proud of Aeden and Emily’s academic accomplishments, just ask anyone from her bridge club, the church ladies, family and friends. Lil passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 5, 2017 at the age of 73 years. She is survived by her children Jim (Nikki) Grover; Connie (Kelly) Vanderburgh; grandchildren Aeden and Emily Vanderburgh; Stone, Cooper and Summer Grover; her brother Kenneth Nixon and sister Betty Keibel both of Stettler; sister-in-law Doreen Nixon of Byemoor; brothers-in-law Merle (Shirley) Grover of Edmonton; Glenn (Joan) Grover of Lacombe; Ron (Deb) Grover of Olds as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her mother and father Jim and Evelyn Nixon; her husband Lloyd Grover; her brother Edwin Nixon; her brothers-in-law, Norman Grover, Ken Keibel, Huey Kelly and her sister-in-law Elaine Kelly. Funeral services were held on Friday December 8, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #105, Olds. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #105, Olds.
