GORDON EMERY
April 16, 1924 - November 12, 2017

Mr. Gordon Emery of Calgary Alberta passed away peacefully on November 12, 2017 at the age of 93 years. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. His working career began with Mid-Western News Agency in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and continued as Assistant Manager until 1971. In 1972 he joined the Government of Canada-UIC as a Supervisor until his retirement in 1984. His real passion was singing and playing trumpet and drums with various bands. His vocal talent earned him his own radio show in Saskatoon early on in his singing career. He was married to Shirley, the love of his life for almost 57 years and they enjoyed 20 years ballroom dancing in Hawaii. Gordon is survived by his daughters: Sherrie Loewen of Vancouver Island, British Columbia; and Penny (Gordon) Ogilvie of Calgary Alberta; son-in-law Donald Czuy; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and sisters: Gladys Boczar of Kanata Ontario; Shirley Helgason of Vancouver, Washington; and sister in law Natalie Emery of Long Beach California. Gordon is predeceased by his wife Shirley (McPhee), daughter Diane Czuy and grandson Darryn Czuy. A Funeral service will be held at Heartland Funeral Services, 4415-49th St, Innisfail Alberta on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gordon’s memory may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion, Dominion Command, 86 Aird Place, Ottawa, Ontario, K2L 0A1 or Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 29th St NW, Calgary, Alberta, T2N 4N2.
