It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sandra Loewen, age 67, on July 23, 2017 at Didsbury. Sandra was born in Olds on July 27, 1949. She married Richard Loewen on July 18, 1970 and they farmed together east of Carstairs before moving to Didsbury in 2000. Early in their marriage, Sandra held a few jobs off the farm before starting a family and becoming more involved in the farm operations. She was active in the community, serving on the Lone Pine Hall board. She particularly enjoyed her involvement with the Lone Pine Bench Fair donating many hours to organizing the event. Sandra proudly entered her cross stitch, handy work, preserves and produce in the fair. She could always be counted on to help with Chad and Lisa’s activities, mostly 4-H, as needed. After moving to Didsbury, she found great fulfillment in her work with Companions Caring 4 U where she was involved in caring for many seniors in the community. She always spoke fondly of her work with them. When it was possible she took pleasure in traveling to visit her children and their families. She cherished the times she was able to spend with family and great friends. She will be missed by many. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 38 years, Richard, father and mother Wilbur & Edith Bolt; sisters Betty Jean and Marilyn; brothers Rick and Keith. She will be lovingly remembered by son Chad (Tonya), daughter Lisa (Trent); grandchildren Colton, Hunter, and Mya; brothers Edward (Inaka) and Brian (Elaine); sister Debra (Jens) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday August 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Lone Pine Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
