Obituary for John Henri Overwater

OVERWATER

We are saddened to inform the community of the passing of John Henri Overwater on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the age of 76 years. John was born in St. Andrew's, MB, on Nov. 3. 1940. The oldest in a family that grew to include 15 children, he followed them west to Alberta to their new farm east of Didsbury in 1962. In 1964 he married Inga Sorensen. Together they farmed and lived a full life in the Didsbury area, raising three children in a family that grew to include eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. John lived a full, active life, rarely ever slowing down. An accomplished athlete at an early age, he not only channeled that energy into his greatest passion, agriculture, he found time over the years to be active in the community and regional politics. He is survived by his wife Inga; sons Rick and Dan, daughter Kristina, and their spouses and children; his siblings Joe, Fran, Tony, Pat, Theresa, Mary, George, Neil, Pete and Chris. John's passing follows his parents John and Antoinetta and siblings Anne, Arie (Eric), Paul and Antoinette. Funeral Mass was held on Friday July 14, 2017 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with Father Adam Daniluk officiating.
