Obituary for Betty Quantz

Betty Jean Quantz of Innisfail passed away at Red Deer on February 24, 2015 at the age of 76 years. Betty was born May 14, 1938 in Edmonton to George and Nellie Hamar. She grew up on the family farm near Entwistle with her three younger siblings. After high school, she went to normal school and taught for four years. She met Gerald in 1960 and they were married August 15. Her and Gerald became partners in everything: life, farming and raising their four children. They enjoyed time spent with friends and had many adventures. They both loved their trips to the mountains. They were involved in their children's lives by volunteering for the many activities the kids were in. Betty enjoyed sewing, knitting and many other crafts. She was heavily involved at church. She lovingly looked after her own children as well as many others. She was an excellent gardener, preserving her harvest and baking for her family. She enjoyed writing and genealogy. Her ten grandchildren were very precious to her and she enjoyed every moment spent with them. They were each special to her in their own way. Betty is predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, Gerald. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Cheryl and Gordon Bradshaw of Innisfail, Leona and Blaine Staples of Innisfail, Myrna and Brian Jensen of Hanna, Darin and Veronica Quantz of Olds; her grandchildren: Blaire and Kristopher Bradshaw, Lewis, Richard and Gerald Staples, Doane, Rebekah and Kiersten Jensen, Daniel and Ray-Lynn Quantz; her siblings: Helen and Henry Sturt, Dianne and Bob Richardson, Ron and Lynda Hamar; her sister-in-law Margaret Johnston and numerous nieces and nephews.
