Obituary for James "Keith" Thomson
JAMES KEITH THOMSON
1927 – 2019
Mr. James “Keith” Thomson of Innisfail, Alberta passed away at Innisfail on January 26, 2019 at the age of 91 years.
Keith was born in Innisfail the youngest son of Hetherington (Hether) and Annie Thomson. Raised on their farm southeast of Innisfail he attended Grahamston School, high school in Red Deer then the Olds School of Agriculture (Olds College). Returning to the farm he soon met June and they were wed in 1947. Surrounded by good friends and neighbours they continued farming for many years though they started to escape to Arizona each winter, In 1997 they decided to move to British Columbia settling in Westbank first and then Kelowna. June passed away in 2005 and some time later Keith began a new chapter in his life with his partner Gladys Pilkey. Sharing a love of golf and curling they had many enjoyable years. Keith decided it was time to move back to Alberta after Gladys passed away and he spent his final years surround by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well many old and dear friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son Jim (Marylou) Thomson of Innisfail, three grandchildren: Jennifer (Reynald) Truchon and their children Alexandre and Matthis; Brittany (Brady) McCoy and their children: Colt and Ashlyn; and Tynan (Stephanie) Thomson and their children: Bryce and Riley. He also leaves behind two close brothers-in-law: Ross (Sharon) Hyatt and Jim Hyatt. As well many nieces and nephews but he was especially close to his niece Janie (Fred) von Krogh. He was predeceased by his wife June, an infant daughter, brother Grant and partner Gladys.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 9th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Innisfail Library Centre Community Room. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Keith’s memory may be made to The Lending Cupboard or the Sunnybrook Farm.
