GORDON FAGAN
It is with very heavy, yet peaceful hearts that the family of Gordon Fagan, announce his rather sudden passing on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Olds Hospital at the age of 86 years. Gordon was born on July 13, 1932 in Olds Alberta to Margaret and Leo Fagan and grew up on the family farm in the Lone Pine district east of Olds where he attended school at the country school house by way of horse. After completing grade school he eventually took over the farm. In 1953, he married Elaine McLean and together they farmed the section of land using in “earlier days” 12’ or less farm equipment plus raised beef, pigs and chickens for additional farm income. Both of his daughters grew up there. Despite all of the hard work and wonderful memories; in 1974 the 50 year old family farm was sold and the new farm was purchased in the Samis district just north of Olds. This was a much more modernized time and farm life became easier on the new farm. His daughter, Pam joined the farming operation and shortly thereafter, his precious grandson was born. Gordon was known as a very down to earth, honest, hard working farmer whom at one time could fix or build anything. He would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had an absolute love for his land and all of the animals but his family was always his first priority. He was a tremendous protector and provider. He took great pleasure in family gatherings, socializing with a host of close friends, all of his great neighbors and many, many acquaintances. He surely will be remembered by all for his knack of telling very “humorous and colorful’ stories and his funny shenanigans. Gordon is survived by his loving wife Elaine of 64 years; daughters Valerie and Pam; cherished grandson Keifer Olsen ; 97 year old sister-in-law Edith Fagan and many much loved nieces, nephews and extended family members. Gordon is predeceased by his mother and father Margaret and Leo, brothers Ray, George, Glen , Carl; sisters Emma Lee, Evelyn and Lucille. He will be so very dearly missed but will live on in our hearts, forever and will no doubt promote a few good laughs here and there along the path or remembrance. A memorial Service will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #105 on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 1;00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
