Obituary for Dennis Clare Cressman

CRESSMAN

Dennis Clare, beloved father, grandfather and barefoot friend, died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of Lori, David and Jeremy on August 8, 2018, at the age of 71 years, after facing pancreatic cancer with inner strength. He is survived by his daughter, Lori R. Ray ( John) of Calgary, and their two children, Daniel Ray and Julia Ray; his son, David B. Cressman of Hawaii; his sister, Dorothy A. Lichti (Wayne) of Elmira, ON.; his sister Elizabeth M. Cressman
(William P. Gardner) of Calgary; eight nieces and nephews and thirteen great-nieces and great-nephews. Janet Martin lived with Dennis in Calgary and at The Land in recent years. Dennis is remembered as a
kind-hearted man who genuinely cared about people, listening to them attentively. His genuine laughter was contagious and he was known for his great sense of humour. He was a spiritual man who deeply loved River Bend, The Land NW of Olds, AB., that fed his heart and soul for many years. Being among the trees, birds and natural breezes created fond memories for Dennis. He
volunteered generously to Telecare and Agape Hospice in Calgary, making significant contributions to many lives. He was born at the K-W Hospital in Kitchener, ON., on October 27, 1946, with his twin sister dying shortly after their birth. Dennis was a graduate of Rockway Mennonite School, Kitchener, ON; Eastern
Mennonite College/University, Harrisonburg, VA; and Colgate Rochester Divinity School, Rochester, NY. He served as a minister of three unique churches, founded Den’s Exploration Services, and worked at Fairview Bakery in Calgary. While he had hoped to live into old age, he became resolved to his death. In lieu of
flowers and/or donations, in memory of Dennis, he asked that you spend some moments sitting against a tree and be open to the presence of life within and around you.
