McLENNAN
Vivienne McLennan was born July 27, 1932 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and passed away August 8, 2018 at the age of 86 in Olds. After meeting the love of her life John, she followed him to Calgary on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1957. Within five years of her arrival, she became a Canadian Citizen. John and Vivienne married in February, 1959. Following their marriage, they moved to Olds where they built the Olds Dairy Corner and were in business for 27 years. The highlight of Vivienne’s life was family gatherings. Her door was always open, coffee was always on and she enjoyed every aspect. The food, card games, the close family feeling; you always felt welcome in her home. She was a great cook. Grandchildren and family members alike thoroughly enjoyed her shortbread, amazing pies, and her nuts and bolts. One Christmas, she decided that her legacy should live on so she wrote out recipes and make cookbooks for each of her seven grandchildren. She was a devote grandmother and never missed a band concert, hockey game, swim meet, gymnastics competition, dance recital, piano recital, graduation or wedding. Grandma made the day complete with her just being there to provide her cheers, applause, support and kisses after. After living in Olds for 60 years, she moved to Sundre where she lived for sixteen months. She was loved by caregivers and residents. She was an active participant in many recreational activities – bingo, singing, exercises, floor curling and field trips to name a few. Our sweet little Irish mom has moved on to a pain free world and she will be dearly missed. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Kathleen (Scott) Stonehouse, Sharon (Lance) Dzaman; son Grant (Kim) McLennan. Vivienne was blessed with seven grandchildren Geoffrey Stonehouse, Maureen (Steve) Mackinnon, Chelsea Richardson (fiancé Chris Blake), Morgan Richardson, Lauren (Matt) Brown, Alex McLennan and Courtney McLennan; four great-grandchildren Aiden and Ariana Mackinnon, Claire and Norah Brown; brother Raymond Hutton from Ottawa as well as multiple other extended family members and a host of friends. Vivienne was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Millicent Hutton; brother Wilfred Hutton and loving husband John. Celebration of Life was held on Saturday August 11, 2018 at Heartland Funeral Services Chapel, Olds. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Olds Health Care Fund Raising Committee.
