Margaret Amy Sisson (nee Fordyce) passed away peacefully May 5th, 2018 after a short stay at the Olds Hospital at the age of 87. She was born in Innisfail, Alberta on September 27 1930 and was the sixth child of David and Lillian Fordyce, who had come to Canada from England in 1907. Margaret grew up in the Cottonwood District west of Innisfail and took part in raising 4-H calves and was active in Girls Clubs, winning the best secretary award for Alberta in 1947. She loved riding horses, skating and playing baseball. She met and later married George Sisson on Oct. 22, 1948 in Innisfail. They made their home in various places; Duchess, Brooks, then north to Winfield. In 1954, they were employed by the Hammer Brothers, Bill and Harold. The farm was divided and George worked for Bill Erwin till 1977. They then moved to Olds and George went to work for County of Mtn. View as a grader operator. Margaret worked for the Bowden Nurseries, then a clothing store-The Betty Shop, after that at the Co-op until retirement in 1993. Margaret enjoyed the outdoors, camping with friends, going to Shuswap Lake, gardening, crocheting, dancing, cards, Bingo at which she won several big pots and playing shuffleboard in the winter. She also curled and bowled in local leagues, sang with a local group called Sweet Adeline’s, and we can’t forget to mention her love for the Toronto Blue Jays. Margaret took some wonderful trips, thanks to her daughter Lorraine and husband Doug Hanson to Dubai in the Persian Gulf with stop in London, Hawaii and Houston, Texas. She will be dearly missed by her five remaining children Lorraine(Doug) Hanson, Verna(Brien) McDonald, Penny (Jim) Ross, Kathy(Gary) Richards, and son Richard(Tami) Sisson; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen
