Obituary for Norman Russell "Norm" Hunt

Norman Russell Hunt passed away at home on January 15, 2018 at the young age of 77 years.
Norm is survived by his wife Bertha of 38 years, daughter Kerry (Brad) Towle, Brother Clifford (Hanna) Hunt and four amazing and loved granddaughters, Madison Towle, Jessica Towle, Melinda Hunt and Kassandra Holm. Norm was incredibly proud and received great joy from his grandchildren; he looked forward to every visit and conversation with all of them.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; son Richard Hunt, son Ron Hunt and brothers Hugh Hunt, Ronnie Hunt and Curtis Hunt.
Norm met the love of his life Bertha in 1979 and married her shortly after. He enjoyed spending time with his kids Ron and Kerry and teaching them about the outdoors including quading, camping and fishing. Norm spent a lifetime working in the oilfield in pump jack maintenance, owning his own company for over 40 years. In 1992, Norm was diagnosed with throat cancer which took him away from what he knew. That same year, Norm welcomed his granddaughter Jessica which gave him the will to fight cancer. In 2010, he was dealt a severe blow in the loss of his son Ron and shortly after suffered a massive stroke. This event left Norm with a requirement for homecare but a steadfast belief in his wishes to be cared for at home and not in a hospital. In 2013, Norm and Bertha moved to the acreage with Kerry, Brad and Madison and Norm enjoyed being surrounded by his family and his granddaughter. Norm truly enjoyed living on the acreage and could often be found visiting on the deck with family and friends, sitting back, watching the wildlife and a few beverages….
A memorial will be held on Jan 27 from 1 - 4 pm at Aberdeen Hall on Hwy 590. Norm will be laid to rest at the Innisfail Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in his son Ron’s memory to the Huntington's Society of Canada.
