Obituary for Norah Wilton

NORAH WILTON
JULY 2, 1930 – NOVEMBER 15, 2017
The family of Norah Wilton sadly announce her sudden passing after a short illness and hospitalization in Olds, at the age of 87 years. Norah was born in Edmonton July 2, 1930, the only daughter of Frederick and Mary Day. She completed all her schooling in Edmonton and then graduated with her degree in nursing from the University of Alberta. It was at University that she met her future husband, Stuart Wilton. Stuart and Norah were married August 18, 1954. Norah worked on the Pediatric Unit at the University of Alberta Hospital. Stuart and Norah moved to Olds in 1955 where Stuart began teaching at Olds College and Norah kept extremely busy with their 5 children. Norah was very active in many organizations in Olds. She was active in the church, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and leading the Explorers & CGIT groups. She chauffeured her 5 children and their many friends around town and the countryside to their many activities. Norah repeatedly served on the Olds Hospital Board and was active in the planning of the new hospital. She was a member of the Olds Library Board and served as an administrative assistant for the handivan. Norah was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Stuart and son-in-law Brian Bruce. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her loving children Cathy Strand, Lorie Wilton, Cheryl Bruce (Mark Dorin), Brian Wilton and David (Maxine) Wilton. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren—Alexander (Ryan), Nicholas, Graham (Athena), Bryanna (Kory), Mackenzie (Amy), Cassidy (Brett), Sierra (Brandon), Jenna (Nick), Tyler (Brittany), Quinn and Garrett and her great granddaughter, Adison. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Olds United Church with Reverend Tammy Allan officiating. Family interment to be held at a later date in Bentley, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Alberta & BC Guide Dogs Service. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd.
