“O SON OF THE SUPREME! I have made death a messenger of joy to thee. Wherefore dost thou grieve? I made the light to shed on thee its splendor. Why dost thou veil thyself therefrom?” -Baha’u’llahRaymond Theodore Anderson passed away on Thursday, 21th of September 2017 peacefully at Sunset Manor in Innisfail Alberta, at the age of 93.He leaves Son, Christopher Anderson , his daughter in law and his 3 grandchildren with four great grandchildren, and many close friends.Born and raised in Mount Horb, Wisconsin USA where he grew up and went to school. His university education was in Oregon and Chicago where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree and two master's degrees. While in university, he discovered the message of Baha’u’llah which says that “so powerful is the light of unity that it can envelope the whole world”. He met his wife Joan Storie at the Baha’i House of Worship in Chicago and fell in love at the first sight. He married her in 1951. Joan passed away in January 2000.In 1953, they pioneered to the Yukon Territory where they were the first Baha’i Family to settle. For this service, they were given the title of Knights of Baha’u’llah. They continued to live in the Yukon for 19 years and were adopted by the Tlingit First Nations of Carcross-Tagish. Ted constantly strived to improve the rights and lives of the indigenous people. They moved to Red Deer in 1972 where they lived until Ted moved to Sunset Manor in Innisfail in 2012. The family would like to thank all those visitors who brightened his days and the compassionate care and love he received from the staff in Sunset Manor. Since Ted was an author and scholar, the family has a project to build a memorial library in his memory in Africa. Those who wish to contribute, in lieu of flowers, could contribute to this project. Arrangements have been made for the celebration his of life on Saturday, 23, September, 2017 at 12:00 (noon) at Heartland Funeral Services Chapel in Innisfail, Alberta and then funeral procession to the cemetery for interment at Alto Reste Cemetery.
