Obituary for Elizabeth Jean "Betty" Calder (Gibson)

BETTY CALDER

Mrs. Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Calder passed away with her family by her side at her home on September 16, 2017 at the age of 90 years.
Betty was born in Crossfield, Alberta on November 7, 1926. In 1940 the family moved to The Spruce’s where the family farm was situated. The Gibson and Calder families had many connections through the years, and Betty and Bill’s relationship grew as a result. They were married at The Spruce’s in 1946 and shortly after purchased farmland west of Innisfail where together they raised their crops, cattle and their three children. Bill passed away in 1985, but Betty stayed on the family farm until 2002 when she moved to Innisfail where she resided until her passing.
Betty was very active in the Little Red Deer W.I., 4-H, Scottish County Dancing, her church and especially her family. Her loving heart and kind ways will be dearly missed.
Betty is survived by her daughter: Catherine, son: Bruce (Karin), grandchildren: Aaron, Kyle (Evie), Justin, Candice (Brendon), step grandchildren: Travis, Shawn, Patrick, Teresa, Heath and Shane and their spouses twenty three great grandchildren, and six great great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves to mourn, her siblings Ross, Kay, Doug (Joyce), Mary and David (Karen) and very special people to her: Myrna Manual, Duane and Glenna Neal and David Loree. She was predeceased by her husband Bill and eldest daughter Clara.
