Obituary for Jerry Dale Walker

Mr. Jerry Dale Walker passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Monday, August 29, 2016 at the age of 63 years. Jerry was born on May 5, 1953 to Wes & Bertha Walker, a little brother for Archie and Doug. Jerry grew up on the farm west of Trochu and went to school grades 1 -12 at Trochu. After high school he went to SAIT in Calgary and took one year of power engineering that was not to be, Jerry then got a job at Guards Implements in 1972 where he apprenticed to be a Heavy Duty Mechanic. In 1976 in his final year of SAIT he was awarded the highest mark in Alberta for that program. He was presented with a certificate and a big picture. Jerry worked at Guards till just before the Guard boys retired. On Nov. 23, 1985 Jerry married the love of his life Linda Demers. They built a new house on Uncle Evan Walker’s Farm. Jerry farmed with his brothers and worked for Guards in the winter time. In 1988 Jerry went full time farming with brothers Archie & Doug. He retired from farming in 2011. Jerry & Linda purchased a house in Red Deer in 2014 and moved there. In Feb. 2016, Jerry was diagnosed with cancer and passed away on Aug. 29, 2016.
Jerry was predeceased by his dad Wes in Feb. 1977, mom Bertha in Sept. 1994, father in law Pete Demers in Aug 2000, and mother in law Laura Demers in October 2003. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Linda, brothers Archie (Joan), Doug (Fern), sister in law Anne Demers, brother in law Norman (Maureen) Demers and their children Melissa, Heather, Nicole and families, sister in law Maureen (David) Corry and family, brother in law Vern (Jewel) Lord and family, close friends Ken & Jan Topham, Ron Topham, Jody and Lindsay Beulter and their daughter Olivia and numerous cousins.
