Life Story for Bernice Zeimer

Bernice Zeimer
Bernice Zeimer
1927-2015
Bernice Zeimer passed away in the Hanna Long Term Care facility in Hanna, Alberta on February 14, 2015 at the age of 88 years.
Bernice was born on February 6, 1927 at Hanna, Alberta; the third of eight children and the eldest daughter of Dr. John Paxman and Edith (nee Gamey) Paxman. She was raised on the family’s farm northeast of Hanna and received her education at the Meadowlands School.
Upon the passing of her mother when she was only 12 years old, Bernice took up the household duties and cared for her siblings. Perhaps that is why she always had such a strong work ethic and a life-long interest in gardening and baking and sharing it with others.
In 1946 she married Albert Zeimer. They spent most of their years together on the farm in the Endiang district where they were blessed with two daughters, Linda and Brenda.
Bernice leaves to mourn her loss two loving daughters Linda (Bill) Smith of Endiang, AB and Brenda Zeimer of Vancouver, B.C.; grandchildren Kristy Smith (Claire Hamilton), Tammy Burns, Karla (Scott) Holman and Clint (Michelle) Norlie; great-grandchildren Denton and Macey Burns, Kailey, Garrett, Logan, Mia and Rachel Norlie.
She is also survived by her sisters Carol Stulberg of Endiang, AB and Eva Ergang of Fort St. John, B.C.; brother-in-law Joe Engelman of Edmonton, AB; sister-in-law Pauline Paxman of Drumheller, AB and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernice was predeceased by her parents; her husband Albert; brothers Bill and Cliff Paxman; sisters Mary Smith, Irene Sarabin and Verna Engelman; and grandson Dale Burns.
Her family will remember her as a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She will also be remembered by everyone who knew her for her kindness, generosity and her great sense of humour.
At her request, there was no formal funeral service. In a private family interment on Feb. 23, 2015, Bernice was laid to rest at the St. Peter’s Lutheran cemetery near Scapa, AB beside her husband Albert – to rest together forever.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and support at this time.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Society; Unit 1, 5550 45th street, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 1L1 or the charity of their choice.
