William “Bill” John Owens of Olds AB passed away on March 25, 2014 at the age of 93 years. He was born in Olds on March 5, 1921 to Margaret Ann and William Robert Owens. He was the sixth child of a family of eight children. Bill grew up on the farm with his family and attended school in Olds. Since Bill’s birth, he worked, raised cattle and lived on his parent’s farm. Bill had a great love of his parents assisting them on the farm during the years. Bill met and later married Florence MacDonald, who taught school and tap dancing in Olds. Bill began working for the Olds Co-op as Meat Manager. He worked for many years and took great pride in his career. He worked there until his retirement. Bill enjoyed time with his family, gardening in the yard and working with his brother Albert on the family farm. He enjoyed assisting his wife Florence with her many tap dance revues. Bill will be forever remembered and loved by his son Bill, daughter Adelle and sister Jennie Dittberner, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bill was predeceased by his wife Florence; his parents William and Margaret; his sisters Mary, Agnes, Ethel and Irene; and his brothers Clark and Albert. A memorial service was held on Friday April 4, 2014 at Heartland Funeral Services Chapel in Olds, AB. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
